In order to develop future leaders in the community, the CCYAA Leadership Development Program (LDP) selects and works with top youth by providing training and experience, giving them the necessary skills and expertise to become leaders in the community.
This group will be comprised of a targeted group of 10 to 12 participants in Grades 10 and 11 who are interested in developing their leadership skills through innovative and fun activities. The purpose of this program is to provide potential leaders in the community with a forum to exchange ideas and experiences with each other, develop leadership skills, and build their network. The 12-month intensive program will be accomplished through monthly learning modules with guest speakers, facilitated workshops, and activities in the community. Each member will be assigned a senior mentor who will coach the participant through the entire 12-month program. Some of the learning modules include: - Teamwork & Leadership
- Effective Goal Setting
- Presentation Skills
- Conflict Management
- Community Involvement
- Career Options / Interviewing Skills / Resume Writing
In addition, through the course of the program, participants as a group will be fully responsible for taking a leadership role in selecting, planning, and executing one major project to address a critical need in the community. Past charitable projects include events for groups such as Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation, Raptors Foundation, and the United Way.
