Showdown in Chinatown - A great success

The 1st Showdown in Chinatown was a great success.  This new 15 and under basketball tournament presented by CCYAA attracted many youth ballers from all across the Greater Toronto Area.  With teams from Downtown, North York, Markham, Mississauga and Scarborough; Riverdale C.I was filled with youth.  At the end of the day, only one team took home the championship. Here are the results:

 

Standings (after Round Robin):
1. Mississauga (4-0)
2. Scarborough (3-1)
3. Markham (2-2)
4. Downtown (1-3)
5. North York (0-4)

Semi-Finals:
Mississauga vs Downtown (winner - Mississauga)
Scarborough vs Markham (winner - Scarborough)

Finals:
Mississauga vs Scarborough (winner - Scarborough)

Champions:
Scarborough

“It’s been one of CCYAA’s goals to develop youth leaders and to unite Chinese youth across the GTA through sports,” said Albert Tseng, President of CCYAA, “We hope this basketball competition will help foster a sense of community for each of the different Chinatowns.”

For the past 12 years, the CCYAA has provided the Chinese community with basketball development for youths through an exclusive partnership with the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club. Currently, the CCYAA’s Jr NBA Program provides instruction to over 300 Chinese youths across the city.  The Showdown in Chinatown event will serve as the playoff tournament for the various programs across the city.
