I'm sorry guys, but football is a better sport than basketball. I'll tell you why... |

It’s hard to be an optimist if the world constantly crushes your hopes and dreams and tosses them effortlessly onto the 401. You’re probably asking what my hopes and dreams are (were) and what did the world do to it that’s got me bitching about it online (like I always do) Well, I went to Midnite Madness last week and I found two things out:

I blame a lot of my current problems on my childhood. It’s so much easier. When I was a kid, I wanted to play organized sports like little league or organized basketball. Even if it was crime, I wanted to be involved in something organized. Alas, I never got to do it during my years as a young’in. I think I said this before: we were immigrants – my parents didn’t believe in that “Canadian stuff”: “Pay money to play with other kids? We have a perfectly good TV…go watch TV instead” |

Yes, despite winning game 5 last night, we’ve merely delayed execution for another day. The only thing we have accomplished is drawing extra revenues for the New Jersey Nets since Game 6 is going to be at Intercontinental Arena. That’s right, give Jay-Z some more Roca-money. |

I was there through the good and the bad. I was at the game when Glen Grunwald apologized to the crowd at the end of the season on how crappy we had been. I bleed Raptor Red. |

Hello guys… It appears that our beloved Toronto Raptors Basketball Club has qualified for a playoff spot in the 2007 NBA playoffs. In fact, we won the friggin Atlantic Division, so that makes us more than qualified. Seeing how our older, better-loved brother, the Maple Leafs, didn’t make the playoffs this year we have more time to concentrate on basketball. The Raps probably feel like Tupac right now…all eyez on them. Does that make Sam Mitchell Dr. Dre and Brian Colangelo Suge Knight? |

Boy, I love intramurals, especially when it’s against the lowest social species in society. I guess I need to explain myself… |

Over the holidays, I was talking to my younger cousin (he’s in grade 9) and I asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He told me that he wanted to be a boxer. His statement prompted two responses from me: 1) I told him that boxing can be a hobby, but not a career since Asians don’t box, they sell the snacks for the boxing match. 2) I started thinking how ridiculous of an idea it was to be a boxer. |

Here’s to the end of the year…sorta As I count down to the demise of 2006 and look forward to 2007, I start noticing a lot of “Top Ten ____” of the year, like “Top Ten Dunks of the Year” or “Top Ten Plays of the Year” First of all, I don’t know why we’re obsessed with ranking everything. Even outside of sports, we have the MuchMusic countdown, the Billboard top 100 and so on…(You get the point) Who judges what the number one play should be anyway? Is there like a symposium of the greatest sports writers joined by physicists, biologists and poets meeting in an underground bunker in Arizona? |

“Being a Schulich student, I’ve seen a lot of CEOs give a talk to a room full of business students but Richard Peddie…he blows these guys out of the water” Hey - let me tell you about one of my greatest achievement in life aside from finishing Street Fighter 2 with E Honda: I co-ordinated a breakfast meet and greet with Maple Leaf Sport Entertainment CEO Richard Peddie. I guess this would be a crappy story if I don’t start at the beginning, so here you go: |

That’s the line of the night. No, that’s not from Chris Bosh. That’s from Jorge Garbajosa – aka. Pornstar Player aka. Spanish Fly Well, I didn’t make up “Pornstar Player” – someone else did. The reason was he did everything well. I made up Spanish Fly though because his play has turned me on in a non-homo erotic way. You see, Jorge has got me fiending for the Raptor season to start. I’m fiending like an addict – all I need is a belt and a spoon… |
